Express Yourself and a New Template Freebie

This last weekend was Digital Scrapbook Day, and it was a wild day. There were unbelievable sales at just about every shop, free downloads every where you went and amazing new kits from so many talented designers.

I had three layouts posted for a new collection from Created by Jill Scraps. Here are the kits I used (which are on sale from $1-$2 until November 6, 2013, at GingerScraps.

Express Yourself Kit 1

Express Yourself Kit 2

Express Yourself Journal Cards

Express Yourself Messy Krafties Papers

Express Yourself Smatters

Express Yourself Alpha

And here are the layouts I made, all of which are my own design. No templates were used.

I have not created any layouts in the "art journal" style. This kit was designed with that style in mind. This is my attempt at something a bit more "artsy" but it turned out a little more on the grunge side. The "frames" are actually papers from the kit. I created duplicate layers of the photo, then used the cookie cutter tool in PSE, cropped a layer with a crop shape, then clipped one of the papers to it. This required me to have several layers of the photo so that I could stack them with the photo between each layer of paper.

This is a revised take on the sun ray look. I actually used a arrow shape in the cookie cutter function. I erased the end of the arrow so that I could have the base, then clipped papers from the kit to it. This is the design I have a template for. The download link is below.
I love this layout. The team was given journal cards to use. I have a thing for using elements in ways they were not originally made for. In this case, I erased one of the word clouds and used the rest of the card as a frame. There are two cards that were used as title plates. The rest of the elements were out of kit 2. For example, I used the frame at a much larger size to create the funky scallop border. Have fun with your elements and try to come up with unique ways to use them. This makes your stash go a lot further.

I had a great response to my work and was asked by several people if I would create a template for one of my designs. I am happy to announce I have created my first template and it is available to download for free. It is available in PNG, PSD, TIFF and PAGE.

Download template of the "Dare to Dream" layout.

If you create a layout with it, please share the link in the comment section. I would love to see what you do with it!

  13. Great template, thank you for offering it for free. Question: What are your Terms of Use for it? I didn't see any TOU file included in your zip file. Can it be used to create CT layouts or for creating S4O/S4H layouts?
